External Evaluation & Accreditation.

The JEUPS operates under the coordination and supervision of two Schools of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki — the School of Agriculture and the School of Chemistry. As a new programme, it has not yet entered the accreditation cycle as a standalone unit.

This page documents the institutional credibility the programme inherits from its parent Schools and the University, the recommendations from prior accreditation cycles that have already been implemented, and the planned process for the JEUPS's own external evaluation.

Both the participating academic units and their core undergraduate programmes offered in Greek, as well as the University itself, have undergone external evaluation and accreditation by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education.

The findings and recommendations of the accreditation panels for the core Greek-taught undergraduate programmes have been taken into account in the design of the new JEUPS. Areas where this prior input has shaped the new programme include:

• the structure of the Curriculum,
• the definition of expected learning outcomes,
• the student-centered approach to learning,
• student assessment procedures,
• the assurance of a high-quality learning environment.

Both the School of Agriculture and the School of Chemistry have successfully completed external evaluation processes for their Greek-taught undergraduate programmes, adopting and implementing the recommendations received. The examples below illustrate specific recommendations that have been formally implemented.

Recommendation 5.6 — Excellence in teaching

Adoption of a policy to promote and reward excellence in teaching across all personnel ("Teacher of the Year"), based primarily on student evaluations and additional academic achievements.

Recommendation 7.1 — Alumni tracking

Establishment of a formal Alumni Association and systematic tracking of graduates' employability and career paths.

Recommendations 2.10 & 9.1 — External consultation

Development of structured procedures for the evaluation and revision of undergraduate programmes, involving professional bodies (e.g., GEOTEE), stakeholders, external experts, graduates, and industry representatives.

The external evaluation and accreditation process of the JEUPS will be organised by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education and conducted by a panel of independent experts, in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework.

In collaboration with the Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA), the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP), and other competent bodies, the JEUPS has prepared the Programme Accreditation File, ensuring completeness, clarity, and well-documented presentation of all required information.

MODIP's role in the accreditation process

MODIP provides systematic scientific, administrative, and technical support throughout the accreditation process, including:

The conclusions and recommendations arising from the initial accreditation process will be systematically utilised to develop and implement a targeted improvement action plan. This plan will be integrated into the annual internal evaluation cycle of the Programme and monitored by the Programme Steering Committee, OMEA, and MODIP — with the aim of continuously enhancing the quality and effectiveness of the Programme.

In this context, periodic external evaluation and accreditation are regarded as key mechanisms for quality assurance and continuous improvement, contributing to:

• the international recognition of the Programme,
• the transparency of its operation,
• the ongoing enhancement of the educational and learning experience.
